Summer is a very hot time in Australia and we are able to change our daily itineraries in order to see the animals. We have changed the third day of the four day tour from visiting the Organ Pipes to visiting Yandinga Well Gorge. The reason for this is so that we can sit and watch the rare yellow foot rock wallaby while still seeing the fantastic rock formations of the Gawler Ranges. We are still counting up to 300 animals on a late afternoon drive from Kangaluna Camp. There has been some good rain in the area and summer grasses are showing growth. This is good for the animals after such a hard and dry season. We observed a pair of wedge tailed eagles fighting in mid air recently. It was amazing to see birds performing barrel rolls, locking talons and free falling with such control.

The Southern Hairy Nosed Wombat is harder to see in the summer as they are very careful about how to stay cool. Wombats will start to show again in day light in March- April in the late afternoon.

The Baird Bay Sea Lion pups from the new season are beginning to come into the lagoon and play with us. The games with them have been a bit slow for the last two months, but the next twelve months will be better each day. Dolphin swimming has been very good with the dolphins spending up to an hour with us, and playing with everyone in the group. It is amazing that wild animals such as these want to interact with humans without any enticement at all.
